On today’s date (11-22-19), at approximately 1:55pm, officers with the New Braunfels Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Creekside Crossing. Officers arrived in the area and observed the suspicious vehicle, a maroon Hyundai Tucson, flee at a high rate of speed. The fleeing vehicle ignored all lights and sirens of responding officers and headed southbound on I-35 with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.
The vehicle then took the turnaround at Rueckle Road and headed northbound, still fleeing from officers at a high rate of speed. Eventually the vehicle left the city limits of New Braunfels and entered the city limits of San Marcos. Officers continued to pursue the vehicle into northern San Marcos where the vehicle once again exited, turned around, and headed southbound on I-35 at a high rate of speed. At exit 202 in San Marcos the vehicle once again took the turnaround and headed northbound. New Braunfels Police Officers in pursuit then closed in on the vehicle and a pit maneuver was used to bring the vehicle to a stop at the 205 exit in San Marcos.
A felony traffic stop was conducted and the 32-year old male driver from Houston was taken into custody without incident. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and there were no injuries of the suspect or of the officers involved.
The suspect has since been transported to the Comal County Jail where he will be charged with felony Evading in a Vehicle. Additional charges may be pending.
