On today’s date (10-18-20), at approximately 5:50pm, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department were called to the area of State Hwy 46 South near Alves Lane for a report of a motorcycle accident.
Officers arrived and found a male motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, suffering from life threatening injuries following a crash with another vehicle, a small SUV driven by a 57-year old female from Sinton, Texas. Officers immediately began life saving measures until paramedics arrived and transported the male to Resolute Health Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He has since been identified as 21-year old Gregory Casey of New Braunfels. Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace for Pct. 3 Mike Rust. The driver of the SUV was uninjured in the crash.
The New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit partially closed a portion of Hwy 46 South in the area of Alves Lane so a full accident reconstruction investigation could be conducted. Although the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, there is currently no indication that alcohol or speed was a factor in this crash.
