10 Years Later: Investigation into Disappearance of Joshua Davis Jr. Continues

Baby Joshua Crime Stoppers Graphic

February 4th, 2021, will mark the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of Joshua Davis Jr., the 18-month old child that went missing from his New Braunfels home and has not been seen since. Despite freezing temperatures with light snow and ice covering the ground, family members initially suggested that the 2-foot tall, 30-pound toddler had simply wandered outside into the rural area surrounding his home in the 26-hundred block of Savannah Hill Circle. But investigators have since determined that the boy was not capable of leaving the home on his own.

A total of 10 people (7 adults and 3 children, to include Baby Joshua) were inside the home the night Joshua went missing, and although NBPD has not formally named a specific person of interest in this case, anyone that was inside the house that night is considered a person of interest in his disappearance. NBPD believes that the child’s disappearance is suspicious in nature and investigators theorize that Joshua was possibly injured, either accidentally or purposefully, and then removed from the house. NBPD Detectives firmly believe that at least one of the adults that were in the home (and more likely 2 or more adults that were inside the house that night) know what happened to Baby Josh.

Unfortunately, NBPD has been frustrated and disappointed in the level of cooperation from some members of the immediate family who have repeatedly lied and misled detectives, sending them off to investigate theories that they knew to be untrue, which took resources away from the investigation that could have been better used to help bring closure to this case. For instance, despite initial claims by the family that they called 911 immediately after Joshua went missing, investigators have confirmed that approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour elapsed from the time that Joshua allegedly disappeared to the time that the 911 call was made. During this time, investigators know that illegal drugs were cleaned up and disposed of and a family meeting was held prior to the 911 call being made.

Furthermore, some members of the family have been disingenuous with the media and the community about the facts of the investigation. Even though the family has repeatedly been presented with the facts of the investigation by detectives, there are those who have refused to believe those facts and have continued to propagate misinformation about the case to the media and others.  For example, despite claims by some family members, detectives have ruled out abduction from the home based on a number of factors including statements made to investigators by the family in the hours following his disappearance.

Ten years later, this is by no means a cold case.  NBPD detectives routinely reexamine evidence, follow up on new leads, conduct interviews, and issue statements to the community regarding this case in the hopes of bringing closure.  However, as NBPD has stated in the past, detectives firmly believe that the key information needed to solve this case lies with members of the family that were in the home the night the child went missing.  Although cooperative with the investigation, those that were in the house that night have not been forthcoming with fully truthful information in all aspects of the case and NBPD urges those family members - or anyone else - to come forward with the truth about that night’s events in the hopes of providing justice for Baby Josh.

As part of NBPD’s continued efforts to solve this case, Comal County Crime Stoppers has agreed to issue a limited time reward for information about the disappearance of Baby Josh.  The reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or grand jury indictment is valid for the next 30 days and will expire at 5pm on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021.  All tips to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous.  There are three ways to report an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers:
