City Management Staff
New Braunfels City Manager Robert Camareno has been on the job since 2013 after serving as Assistant City Manager since 2008. He was born and raised in New Braunfels and has worked in municipal government for more than 20 years. Camareno's responsibilities include managing the city’s $272.6 million annual budget and overseeing the over 800 employees working across 17 departments.
Robert Camareno has a passion for public service and is honored to be the City Manager for the City of New Braunfels, one of the fastest growing cities in the country and in the State of Texas. As City Manager, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City. The City Manager is one of three employees of the City appointed by the Council.
Robert was born in New Braunfels, graduated from New Braunfels High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the Texas City Management Association.
After high school, Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and received two meritorious promotions. Robert started his professional career as an accountant with a large certified public accounting firm in Arizona. After eight years with the firm, he went on to become the Finance Director and Interim City Manager for the City of Eloy, Arizona. He then served the City of Casa Grande, Arizona as a Budget Analyst, Supervising Accounting and Interim Finance Director.
Because of a desire to be closer to home, Robert moved back to Texas to become the Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance for the City of Copperas Cove, Texas. He then reached a professional goal by becoming a City Manager in the City of Buda, Texas. In 2008 Robert was hired as the New Braunfels Assistant City Manager and promoted to City Manager in 2013.
Robert has been married to his wife Sylvia for 36 years and they have three children and six grandchildren. Because of his dedication to serve others, he has served on the Board of Directors of Communities in Schools, United Way of Comal County and The Eloy and Copperas Cove Chambers of Commerce. Robert is also a member of the Wurstfest Association as an Opa and was recognized by the NBISD Education Foundation as a Distinguished Unicorn Alumni.
Jordan Matney began her career with the city of Fort Worth after obtaining her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. She obtained her Master of Public Administration from Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2013. In 2019 she came to New Braunfels after serving as Assistant City Manager for the City of Live Oak for 5 years.
Jordan has been with the City of New Braunfels since March 2019, currently serving as the Deputy City Manager overseeing Neighborhood and Community Planning, Economic and Community Development, Transportation and Construction Services, Parks and Recreation, and the Library.
Jordan’s career has been dedicated to public service, having previously held positions with the City of Portland and the City of Fort Worth. Prior to joining the team at the City of New Braunfels, Jordan served as Assistant City Manager in Live Oak for 7 years.
Jordan earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas and her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. She earned her International City/County Manager Association Credential Manager (ICMA-CM) certification in January 2023.
She is a proud member of Texas City Management Association, serving as past TCMA Region 8 President and state board member. She is also a member of ICMA, TEDC, APA and Women Leading Government. Jordan is a board member for Headwaters at the Comal and a 2021 graduate of Leadership New Braunfels.
Jared Werner began his career with the City in 2007 when he served as an intern in the Parks and Recreation Department. During the past 14 years, Werner has served in a number of roles including Assistant Director of Finance, Director of Human Resources, and Chief Financial Officer. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Park Administration, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and was named a Rising Star of New Braunfels in 2018.
Jared Werner currently serves as the Assistant City Manager. The departments and functions that fall under Jared’s purview are: Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Communications and Community Engagement, City Secretary’s Office, Municipal Court and River Operations. He has served in other roles in the organization such as Chief Financial Officer, Director of Human Resources, Assistant Director of Finance, Budget Manager and Management and Budget Coordinator. He began his career with the City in 2007 as an intern in the Parks department. He has been serving in his current position since fall of 2021.
Jared was born in Landstuhl, Germany. His family then relocated to Schertz, TX in 1988 when his father retired from the Air Force. Jared is a proud Aggie! He completed his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M in August of 2007. For graduate school, Jared received his Master of Public Administration from Texas State University in 2013. Jared is also a 2016 graduate of the University of Virginia/International City Manager’s Association L.E.A.D Program. In 2018, Jared was recognized as one of the 20 under 40 Rising Stars of New Braunfels.
During high school and college, Jared worked in part time roles for the City of Schertz and the City of College Station. It was during this time of his life that Jared discovered he wanted to pursue a career in municipal government. Jared is extremely grateful for the opportunities that have been provided to him as a result of working for the City of New Braunfels. He looks forward to continuing serve the organization and community.
In June of 2010, Jared got married to his wife Katie. Katie is from New Braunfels and is a Curriculum Specialist for NBISD. Jared and Katie have three children. They reside in New Braunfels and look forward to continuing raising their family in the area. Jared enjoys playing golf, following Aggie football, and traveling with his family.
