Whether it's Group Swim Lessons or Private Swim Lessons, this online registration tool makes it easy to get started!
Private Lessons & Group Lessons
It's never too early or too late to teach your child the importance of water safety. Das Rec offers swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. Classes are Red Cross-based and with two indoor pools, Das Rec is are able to offer a variety of year-round classes that begin at the start of each month (two-week sessions become available during summer months). Swimming lessons are available for an additional fee and are not included in Das Rec memberships.
Private Lessons
Four 30-minute lessons: $100
Receive one-on-one attention to enhance instruction of swimming skills. Private swim lessons are ideal for anyone who wants a more customized experience for children, teens, and adults. Lesson times are customizable and are offered on Monday - Thursday and Saturday.
Group Lessons
Eight 30-minute lessons: $60
Das Rec has an excellent Learn to Swim program for all ages and abilities. Skills from the American Red Cross Learn to Swim and Longfellow’s Whales Tales programs are taught to help participants overcome fear and increase their enjoyment and confidence in and around water.
SWIM LESSON CLASS OPTIOns
Parent and Child (Ages 6 months to 24 months)
The purpose of Parent and Child is to familiarize children ages 6-48 months with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. This course provides safety information for parents and teaches techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water. This class requires parent participation.
Preschool (Ages 3 to 5)
Preschool swim lessons will familiarize children with the aquatic environment and help them acquire basic aquatic skills. This course helps participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices in and around water.
Level 1 (Ages 6 to 12)
Level 1 orients participants to the aquatic environment and helps them gain basic aquatic skills. This course helps participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water. Skills to be learned: bobs, blowing bubbles, glides and recovery, very basics of freestyle.
Level 2 (Ages 6 to 12)
This course builds on the basic aquatic and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1.
Level 3 (Ages 6 to 12)
This course will build on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment. Skills to be learned: survival float, treading water, elementary backstroke, breaststroke kick, streamline position.
Level 4 & 5 (Ages 6 to 12)
Level 4 and 5 will help participants refine their performance of all six swimming strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke). Skills to be learned: open turns, butterfly, breaststroke, increased time treading water, increased distance swim.
Adult Private Swim Lessons
Adult private swim lessons are available for individuals looking to build confidence, improve technique, or learn basic water safety skills in a supportive, one-on-one setting.
