About
The City of New Braunfels and its partners are implementing a Watershed Protection Plan (WPP) to address bacteria concerns in the Dry Comal Creek and Comal River, following years of monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and planning that began in 2015. The plan, approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2018, uses data from the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA) and others to guide water quality improvements based on identified sources of bacteria, including significant contributions from wildlife.
The Dry Comal Creek/Comal River WPP is one of the many watershed protection planning efforts occurring within the State of Texas. See a listing of WPPs in Texas on the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality website.
