Garbage & Recycling Tips to Stay on the Nice List!

Holiday Collection Schedule

If your regular collection day falls on a holiday or the day after a holiday, your collection will shift forward by one day. For example:

  • Thanksgiving 2025: If your Garbage & Recycling day falls on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov. 27), then your collection day will move to Friday, Nov. 28.
  • Christmas 2025: If your collection day falls on Christmas Day (Thursday, Dec. 25), then your service will shift to Friday, Dec. 26.
  • New Year's Day 2026: If your collection day falls on New Year's Day (Thursday, Jan. 1), then your service will shift to Friday, Jan. 2.

Drivers lift their first cart at 6am sharp. To avoid a missed pickup, residents are encouraged to place carts at the curb the night before.

Half Off Excess Bag Tags

From now until January 2, 2026, you can buy a bundle of excess bag tags and get another bundle for Half off! Use our holiday bag tags for excess trash that doesn't fit in your bin. These tags are for bags up to 40 lbs (about the size of a small elf). Bag, tie, and tag your trash, then place it at the curb (leaving 5 ft between bag and trash bin) for regular pickup. Please note that these tags are not for recycling or green waste. You can buy excess bundles of 5 bag tags at the City Municipal Building, 424 South Castell Ave. for $21.65 (including tax). Please note that excess bag tags are not for recycling or green waste, and customers are limited to three bundles per customer.

Recycling and Trash Reminders

Residents are reminded to keep the dos and don'ts of what goes into the blue bin for recycling during the holidays.

  • Save space in your bin by flattening cardboard boxes before recycling
  • All wrapping paper is trash and not recyclable
  • Wrapping paper tubes can be recycled. Make sure to flatten them before placing them in the recycling bin

FREE Christmas Tree Mulching
