Stormwater Efforts
Public Education & Outreach
The City of New Braunfels works to educate the community about how stormwater can affect our rivers and creeks. We share information about the dangers of illegal dumping, the importance of proper waste disposal, and simple ways people can help keep our water clean. The City also hosts events to get the community involved in learning about and improving local water quality. More information can be found on the EPA website: Public Education, and Public Involvement

Preventing Pollution In Storm Drains
The City of New Braunfels has a program to prevent pollution from entering storm drains and local waterways. This includes checking for signs of pollution, keeping track of where water flows, and making sure pipes and drains are connected properly. The City also has rules to prevent illegal dumping into the storm drain system. More information can be found on the EPA website.
Construction Site Stormwater Management
The City of New Braunfels has a program to help prevent construction sites from polluting local creeks and rivers. This includes reviewing construction plans to ensure proper protections and regularly inspecting sites while work is ongoing. The City also has rules that require builders to use methods that prevent dirt and other materials from washing into storm drains. More information can be found on the EPA website.
Stormwater Management in Areas of New Development
The City of New Braunfels is working to reduce stormwater pollution in newly developed areas by requiring long-term solutions that help manage rain runoff. These rules apply to projects that add over 5,000 square feet of hard surfaces like roofs or pavement. The City also checks to make sure these systems are properly maintained and encourages builders to use eco-friendly designs that help reduce pollution and flooding. More information can be found on the EPA website.
Protecting Water Quality at City Facilities
The City of New Braunfels is taking steps to reduce pollution from city-owned buildings and operations. This includes training staff, regularly checking city facilities for potential issues, and installing systems that help keep stormwater clean. These efforts are part of the City’s commitment to protecting local water quality. More information can be found on the EPA website.
