On today’s date (10-24-24), at approximately 9:15am, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department responded to the 6000 block of I-35 South for a report of a collision between an 18-wheeler and a pedestrian.
First responders arrived on scene and found an adult male that had suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The victim has since been identified as 31-year old Austin Michael Arp from Austin. Next of kin has been notified. The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured in the incident and although the incident remains under investigation no charges are expected to be filed.
All southbound traffic on I-35 was closed in the area of the incident so that a full accident reconstruction investigation could be performed by the New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit. The closure remained in place for approximately 3 hours.
