The City of New Braunfels is proud to announce the opening of Alligator Creek Trail, a new 1.1-mile hike and bike trail designed to provide residents and visitors with a safe, scenic, and accessible outdoor recreation experience.
The $1.5 million project, which began in November 2024, was constructed by Jerdon Enterprise, L.P. and is located along Alligator Creek between Goodwin Lane and Orion Drive on the north side of the city.
“The Alligator Creek Trail is a beautiful addition to New Braunfels’ growing trail system, and reflects our community’s commitment to expanding recreational opportunities, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and connecting neighborhoods,” said Deputy City Manager Jordan Matney. “This trail is the first phase of a larger vision for this area. Once the reconstruction of Goodwin Lane is complete, the trail will be extended under Goodwin and continue through the Sunflower Ridge and Wasser Ranch neighborhoods, ultimately linking to the new northwest park.”
The Alligator Creek Trail is open from 6am to midnight daily and features a 10-foot-wide concrete walking and bike path that is beginner-friendly and suitable for all ages and abilities. The trail also includes benches, trash cans, trail signage, dog waste stations, and direct connections into nearby neighborhoods like Oak Creek Estates.
