Effective at 12pm today (05-02-21), the Comal River in New Braunfels will reopen for all recreation. As of this release, the Comal River flow is at 325cfs. Minor amounts of debris are being cleaned up by city staff and the clarity of the water on the Comal River is returning to normal. However, river-goers should still be cautious about debris that may not be visible under the water’s surface. And, as always, NBPD encourages the use of life vests while participating in any water-related activity.
Additionally, recreation on the Guadalupe River inside the city limits of New Braunfels was not affected by recent rains and so the Guadalupe River remains open for recreation.
It should be noted that forecasters with the National Weather Service are predicting more rain on Monday night into Tuesday and those factors will play a role in future decisions made by city officials. Please remember to TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN whenever you see water over a roadway and never drive around barricades.
