The City of New Braunfels and the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation (NBEDC - 4B Board) will ceremonially present the Brauntex Theatre with a check representing the allocation of $1.2 million approved by City Council earlier this year for continued renovations of the historic downtown theater.
The check presentation will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, at the Brauntex Theatre, located at 290 West San Antonio Street. Representatives from New Braunfels City Council and City staff, the NBEDC, the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, the New Braunfels Downtown Board, and the New Braunfels Downtown Association will be on hand to deliver the check to the Board of Directors of the Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
“One of the priorities of the NBEDC is to invest in quality of life projects in New Braunfels and the Brauntex Theatre is a signature destination of our city,” said Kathy Meurin, Chair of the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation. “Quality of life and economic development go hand in hand and this investment in the Brauntex Theatre’s capital campaign is a prime example of that, and will have a lasting impact.”
The $1.2 million investment will help the Brauntex Theatre with Phase 4 of their multi-year renovation project by adding video, lighting, and stage equipment including an audio/visual display wall, LED lighting, a new public announcement system, and other sound equipment upgrades. Previous phases have expanded the lobby, box office, backstage areas, and parking lot and also included the installation of a new roof and ceiling.
Again, the check presentation will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, at the Brauntex Theatre, located at 290 West San Antonio Street. Visit the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation website for more about economic development efforts in New Braunfels.
