This free, family-friendly event is a come-and-go celebration featuring a variety of activities designed to bring the community together to learn more about the Juneteenth holiday.
Those attending the event will find arts and crafts, special guest speakers, children’s book readings throughout the day, a historical display with archives obtained from the Sophienburg Museum and Archives, and live music including a 3-piece jazz band. There will also be food trucks and a variety of local nonprofit agencies on hand including the New Braunfels MLK Jr. Association, Connections, the Family Life Center, the New Braunfels League of Women Voters, the New Braunfels Food Bank, the New Braunfels Public Library, the Community Council of South Central Texas Head Start program, and the Gruene United Methodist Church Food for Kids program.
Again, the second annual City of New Braunfels Juneteenth Celebration will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, June 17th, at the Westside Community Center, located at 2932 South I-35 Frontage Road (just south of Spur Street). Attendees are reminded that parking is limited.
