Fatality Accident on I-35

Media Releases Posted on September 03, 2025

On September 2, 2025, at approximately 2:30pm, the New Braunfels Police Department and New Braunfels Fire Department were called to the 2900 block I-35 North in the northbound main lanes for a report of a rollover motor vehicle accident.

First responders arrived to find a silver Ford Fusion that had rolled over, ejecting the driver. Officers and paramedics immediately began life-saving efforts, but the driver, a 34-year old male from Schertz, died at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the Ford Fusion was driving at a high rate of speed and was weaving through traffic when he sideswiped a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and overcorrected, causing the Fusion to rollover. The driver of the Fusion was not wearing a seatbelt, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle.

The entire northbound side of I-35 in that area was closed for approximately 3½ hours for clean-up and for the accident reconstruction investigation by the NBPD Traffic Unit. No other injuries were reported, and no charges are expected to be filed
