2026 Thru the Chute

Thru the Chute is a cardboard boat challenge held annually at the New Braunfels City Tube Chute. Competitors launch their handmade vessels and go "Thru the Chute" as spectators cheer them on!

• Due to the event's popularity, and in an effort to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators, tickets will be required to enter the Tube Chute for this event. Tickets are available to reserve for free online a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8:00am on Monday, February 2.
• Individuals may reserve up to 6 tickets. Please be considerate of fellow attendees and only claim the number of tickets you plan to use.

• Entry categories

  • All divisions are full. Registering your team will add you to the waitlist for this event. 
    
  • Community Crews - For nonprofits, clubs and civic organizations, schools and teams, families, friend groups and individuals.  
    If you are not promoting a business, this is your division! (Registration fee - $100)
  • Corporate/Sponsored - For-profit businesses, corporate-sponsored teams, entries promoting a brand, product or service.  
    If your entry represents a business or promotes a brand, you must enter this division. (Registration fee - $250)

Event Guidelines & Important Info

The City Tube Chute is a river park, and the disposable container ordinance will still be in effect. Alcohol is also not permitted on the riverbanks. 

Parking

Free parking will be available at Prince Solms Park and at other nearby public lots, including those on Elizabeth Avenue and Hinman Island Drive. Please park in designated public areas and avoid parking on private property. Use our interactive parking map to find places to park in New Braunfels.
