The New Braunfels Public Library is seeking applications from local teenagers that are interested in participating in a newly-formed Library Teen Advisory Board. New Braunfels residents between the ages of 13 and 18 are invited to apply for a spot on the board, which will provide feedback to Library staff about programs and resources for teens and tweens being offered at both the Main Branch Library and the Westside Library & Community Center.
"Teens have traditionally been the hardest audience to reach and serving on the Teen Advisory Board allows them to be an active part of the Library and the community as a whole,” said New Braunfels Public Library Director Cole Johnson. “Direct input from teens during the planning process is crucial and their participation in implementing the programming is an invaluable learning experience. The creation of this Advisory Board also helps the Library align with the City's Strategic Plan goal of increasing involvement of the youth in our community."
Beyond providing feedback to Library staff, members of the Library Teen Advisory Board will also be able to earn service hours for resumes and organizations, gain leadership and experience while working on a team, make new friends, and they’ll have a chance to participate in the programs they create.
Online applications are available through Sunday, February 16th, 2025, and can be found at www.newbraunfels.gov/libraryteens.
