Applications Open for Several City Boards and Commissions

Applications are being accepted through January 5th, 2026, for residents that are interested in volunteering to serve on a number of City boards and committees. Positions are currently open on the following boards:

  • TIRZ #2 – River Mill: In 2019, the City of New Braunfels established TIRZ #2, also known as the River Mill TIRZ, to fund a portion of the infrastructure and maintenance costs associated with the development of the former Mission Valley Mill complex located at 555 Porter Street. This site, which has been abandoned since 2005, is slated for future mixed-use development. Board members will be tasked with approving projects and financing plans as well as making project recommendations to City Council.
  • TIRZ #4 - Zipp Park: In 2025, the City established a tax increment reinvestment zone for the Zipp Sports Park Area. The Zipp Park TIRZ will capture 85% of the ad valorem tax increment within the boundaries to reinvest back into the area. Board members will be tasked with approving projects and financing plans as well as making project recommendations to City Council.
  • TIRZ #5 – West End: In 2025, the City established a tax increment reinvestment zone for the West End Area. The West End TIRZ will capture 85% of the ad valorem tax increment within the boundaries to reinvest back into the area. Board members will be tasked with approving projects and financing plans as well as making project recommendations to City Council.
  • Downtown Parking Revenue Advisory Standing Committee: This is a standing committee of the New Braunfels Downtown Board. This committee advises the Downtown Board, will meet no less than twice per fiscal year, and will be tasked with creating a plan for parking revenue reinvestments into Downtown.
