About

The Administrative Division of the New Braunfels Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Ruy Lozano, Assistant Fire Chief Mike Wehman, and Assistant Fire Chief Matt Bushnell. This division provides oversight and strategic direction for both the Operations and Support Services Divisions. Fire Administration is responsible for supervising departmental operations, managing all staff, ensuring that guidelines and procedures are efficient and safe, maintaining strong relationships with the public, and overseeing cost recovery efforts.

Fire Chief Ruy Lozano


Chief Lozano has 25 years of experience in a large metropolitan fire department and has served the department in variety of ways including public relations and budget management. He spent his career with the Houston Fire Department beginning in 1996 .

Lozano has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, a Masters of Business Administration, and is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. 

He is also a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Master Firefighter and Fire Instructor, and is a Center of Public Safety Excellence Peer Assessor.

“I am honored to have been selected as Fire Chief for the New Braunfels Fire Department,” said Fire Chief Ruy Lozano. “I am excited to be a part of the City’s prospering future, while protecting New Braunfels as a national treasure.”
