On April 9th, 2018, at approximately 11:40pm, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to a residence in the 2800 block of Windgate Drive for a report of a gunshot victim.
Officers arrived to find an adult male suffering from a single shotgun wound to the chest. New Braunfels Police officers immediately began life saving measures. Those measures were continued by paramedics with the New Braunfels Fire Department, however, all attempts were unsuccessful and the victim succumbed to his injuries. The victim has since been identified as 36-year old Eleazar Longoria Jr. of New Braunfels and next of kin has been notified.
The investigation into Longoria’s death began immediately, led by Detectives from NBPD’s Criminal Investigations Division. Comal County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Rust has ordered an autopsy. After collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, 37-year old Paul Jason Roberts of New Braunfels was arrested and charged with Murder, a First Degree Felony. Roberts was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Comal County Jail.
The investigation into Longoria’s death continues and further information will be released as is necessary.
