On today’s date, at approximately 9:45am, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department responded to the 4200 block of I-35 North on the northbound frontage road.
Officers and paramedics arrived on scene to find that a Ford Escape had crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler. The driver of the Escape, a 19-year old female from Seguin, was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Rust. The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, a 55-year old male from San Antonio, was uninjured in the crash.
The frontage road in that area was closed for approximately 3½ hours while crews investigated the crash and removed the vehicles involved. As of this release, the frontage road and all exit ramps in the area have been reopened.
