[ARCHIVED] Vehicle Thefts and Pursuit

Donte Williams

On Sunday, January 26th, 2020, at approximately 7:30am, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to the Bluebonnet Dodge overflow parking in the 1200 block of South Business 35 after a witness observed three Dodge Durangos being stolen from the lot.  A responding officer located the vehicles traveling northbound on I-35 and all three vehicles ignored attempts to initiate a traffic stop.  One of the vehicles was able to get away when it suddenly turned off the highway just north of Watson Lane while the other two continued northbound into San Marcos.

Additional officers from the San Marcos Police Department assisted in the pursuit and both of the suspect vehicles exited I-35 at Wonder World Drive.  One of the vehicles came to a stop on the median between the highway and the frontage road near Wonder World Drive and the driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.  The other vehicle finally came to a stop after crashing through a fence and into a field.  The driver of that vehicle also fled on foot and was apprehended by San Marcos Police where he was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Both suspects were then transported by New Braunfels Police to the Comal County Jail.

24-year old Donte Chazz Williams of Missouri City (pictured) was charged by New Braunfels Police with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, and he was also served with two felony warrants for Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Kidnapping out of Harris County.

22-year old Timothy Malik Thompson of Houston was charged by New Braunfels Police with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, and Possession of Marijuana.

Both suspects are facing additional charges by San Marcos Police.

The third stolen vehicle was later recovered by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office after it was found abandoned along State Highway 123.  All three vehicles were taken back to New Braunfels for processing by the NBPD Crime Scene Unit.  The investigation into this incident is ongoing by the NBPD Criminal Investigations Division and additional arrests and/or charges may be forthcoming.   NBPD would like to thank the San Marcos Police Department and the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office for their help in resolving this incident.
