Am I a resident of New Braunfels?

Living in this part of the Texas Hill Country means understanding that living "out in the county" and living "in the city limits" are not the same thing. In fact, it's sometimes hard to tell if you are eligible for City of New Braunfels services and benefits, so it's important to make sure you know if you are, indeed, a New Braunfels resident. That's because many City services and benefits are only available to those who reside inside the city limits of New Braunfels, since they pay City property taxes, while those that live in the ETJ (Extra Territorial Jurisdiction) or in unincorporated areas of Comal or Guadalupe County do not pay City property taxes.

IMPORTANT:

Residency is determined by your address, but just because you may have New Braunfels in your mailing address, that doesn't necessarily mean you live inside the city limits. The City of New Braunfels General Reference Map is an easy, interactive way to determine if your address is inside the city limits. Further confusing this issue are the various other agencies and government entities whose service areas overlap. For instance, just because you have New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) as your water/sewer/electric provider, doesn't necessarily mean that you are a New Braunfels resident.
