Ice and snow accumulation during the overnight hours has prompted an extension of the delayed opening for City of New Braunfels facilities and the postponement of garbage and recycling collection.
City Facilities
- All non-essential City services will delay opening until 1pm today (Tuesday, Jan. 21st). This includes City Hall and other administrative offices, Municipal Court, the Public Library, the Westside Community Center, Das Rec, the Civic & Convention Center, and the City Municipal Building (424 S. Castell Ave.)
- Police and Fire/EMS will continue operations as usual.
- Garbage and Recycling collection is postponed for today (Tuesday, Jan. 21st) and collection services for the remainder of the week will shift forward by one day, similar to a holiday week schedule (ie: Tuesday collections will move to Wednesday, Wednesday collection will move to Thursday, and Thursday collection will move to Friday). Those that have downloaded the Waste Wise mobile phone app will receive push notifications of this change in schedule.
- The Landa Park Golf Course will be closed through Wednesday, Jan. 22nd and will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 23rd at 12:00pm.
- Restrooms, water fountains, and other similar facilities in all City parks are temporarily closed.
Road and Bridge Preparation
Drivers are advised to avoid travel, if possible, until road conditions return to safe conditions. City street crews will continue to lay down gravel and de-icing agents on local roads and bridges. Additionally, TxDOT is taking similar precautions on I-35 and other major highways. Residents can find updated local road closure information on the City of New Braunfels website.
